Health Care Community Discussion Response

SSWLHC is a membership organization of professional social workers engaged in practice throughout the health care continuum. As advocates for both sound public policy and for our clients we are uniquely situated to provide input to the Transition Team. In addition, many of us are also consumers of the health care system as well as caregivers of older loved ones. It is from these two perspectives that we came together for a ‘Health Care Community Discussion.’

On December 29, 2008 we hosted a conference call of thirty five (35) of our members from across the United States. The call was chaired by Charles L. Robbins, DSW President of the SSWLHC.

2006 Salary Survey Results
From April to June of this year a salary survey was available for completion to members and non members. The survey was initiated at member request in order to benchmark against other  social workers who are hospital based and who have similar functions. The scope of this survey focused on hospital based social work but there may be future surveys of other health care social  work venues if there is enough interest. The results of the current survey are the broad look at salary and staffing structures from across the country. Additional statistical analysis of this data  will be done over the upcoming months to break it down by regions and other types of geographical grouping.
