The Maine Chapter of the Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care...
consists of a group of social work professionals, working in various health care settings across the state of Maine who are dedicated to
- promoting the universal availability, accessibility, coordination and effectiveness of health care that addresses the psychosocial components of health and illness,
- working together for the well-being of our patients and their families,
- leading, promoting, developing and supporting social work practice in health care.
Our Meetings
- are held 5 times a year - January, March, June, September and November
- from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
- and the agenda combines chapter business and a guest presenter.

Each year we nominate and honor two Social Workers of the Year. This year the recipients were honored at the Samoset Resort at the Maine Hospital Association's annual conference on June 24, 2010:
• Ralph McPherson, LCSW The Aroostook Health , Mars Hill, Maine: Social Work Leader of the Year
• Deanna Mullins, LMSW-CC, Goodall Hospital, Sanford, Maine: Medical Social Worker of the Year
In honor of M. Dawn Simpson, past president and member of our chapter who died on December 16, 2007, we've established
The M. Dawn Simpson Scholarship Fund
The scholarship, set up by SSWLHC chapter members, honors the memory of their esteemed colleague, M. Dawn Simpson, LCSW.
Eligible applicants are Maine residents pursing a degree in social work from a Maine University, with a focus in health care.
