Manager of Social Work & Chaplaincy

About St. Louis Children's Hospital
According to Parents magazine, St. Louis Children's Hospital is among the top 5 pediatric hospitals in the United States. The Manager of Social Work and Chaplaincy does what's right for kids by being responsible for the administrative direction, supervision and coordination of Social Work, Child Protection and Chaplaincy programs at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Social Work
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Missouri or ability to obtain one prior to start date
  • Social work experience - 5 years or more
  • Supervisory experience - 3 years or more
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull equipment/supplies for 75% of a shift
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and/or move about for up to 100% of a shift

Director of Social Work

The Kennedy Krieger Institute, a Johns Hopkins University-affiliated program, is a nationally and internationally known facility serving children, adolescents and some adults with a wide range of developmental disabilities and disorders. Kennedy Krieger is well known for its strong clinical services, clinical training programs and research.

The Director of Social Work is directly responsible for in- and outpatient social work services and the social work training program, as well as clinical oversight of the Institute's more than 90 social workers.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an MSW (Ph.D. preferred) and be licensed in the state of MD. Minimum of five years of post-Master's clinical practice, three of which must have been in a supervisory, teaching and administrative capacity. Outstanding leadership and management skills are required.

Director, Clinical Social Work

POSITION SUMMARY:
Directs the Department of Clinical Social Work to ensure quality patient care.

Essential Duties:
The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, vision and leadership to the Clinical Social Work Department.  We are seeking a self-starter who provides active leadership in compliance with policies and procedures, maintaining departmental budget, initiating new patient care programs and managing day to day operations of the department.  The incumbent will be seen as an authority in the field while representing the Clinical Social Work department across multiple channels both inside and outside of the hospital.  Knowledge base of best practices.  Able to champion and affect change as necessary in areas such as (but not limited to): patient throughput, cost reduction measures as well as staff and patient satisfaction.

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Proven track record of favorable patient outcomes due to outstanding clinical skills and aptitude in handling complex cases.
  • Exceptional project management, creative problem solving and administrative skills.
  • Six Sigma certification or familiarity with Lean methodology strongly preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and synergistic relationships across multiple constituencies such as staff, physicians, service line administrators, executive staff, patients and families.
  • Competence in development and implementation of strategic plans and processes across all areas (Community Health, Med/Surge and ICU's, Mobile Crisis, etc.).
  • Skill in ensuring regulatory compliance with all facets of Joint Commission and various regulatory bodies including rules and regulations around organ/tissue procurement and interpreter/translation services.
  • Able to handle ambiguous situations with tact and good judgment.
  • Awareness of political climate in a quasi-governmental institution.
  • Flexible, analytical and resourceful.
  • Achiever personality style with an eye for continuous improvement in self, others, policies, systems and processes.
  • Competency in personnel management, systems improvement and influencing others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Masters Degree in Social Work
    Experience: Three years of supervisory or lead experience in clinical social worker an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Required License: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Colorado
    PERSONNEL SUPERVISED: MSW, Clerical and other non-professional staff
