SSWLHC - Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter
The Southwestern PA Chapter of the Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care originated in 1965 and has grown to encompass a 15 county region. Members include those who work in a variety of health care settings inclusive of the following: social work practice in acute care, behavioral health, rehabilitation, long term care, home care & hospice, case management, as well as schools of social work. The purpose of the organization is to promote the practice of Social Work in health care settings across the continuum and advance the development of effective social work programs through education, advocacy and professional networks.
The Southwestern PA Chapter conducts CEU programs throughout the year. Past programs have included such topics as diversity and cultural competence, working with combat veterans, hospice work, among many others. Programs are free to members and at a nominal fee for non-members. We welcome suggestions for program topics, speakers or locations. We encourage the participation of social workers in our region as part of our planning group and as attendees to our CEU programs. Upcoming CEU events will be posted here. To be added to our mailing list and stay informed of events, please email your request to chriscompliment@comcast.net .
The Southwestern PA chapter operates under the guidance of a Planning Group. Members are encouraged to participate in any of the planning areas of coordination, education, or finance by contacting the team leaders listed below:
